How to Spot a Fake Website

Many scams start with a fake website — a page that looks exactly like the real one but was built to steal your information. Let's learn how to spot them.

1. Read the address (URL) carefully

Scammers create addresses that look like the real thing: for example, instead of example.com they write examp1e.com or example-free.xyz. One letter or extension makes the difference. Always read the full address.

2. Watch the domain extension

Extensions like .xyz, .top, .online combined with tempting words like "free" and "cheap" are red flags.

3. Check the domain age

Scam sites are usually brand new. On GameGuard just enter the site address to see its domain age and suspicious signs.

💡 A real site from a trusted store has usually been active for years, not a few days.

4. Look for the lock and official payment gateway

Payment should go through an official bank gateway. If they ask you to transfer card-to-card directly, be cautious.

5. Not sure? Look it up

Before any purchase, search the seller's name or address on GameGuard. If they have a bad history, you'll see it.

Keep your eyes open. A few seconds of attention can stop your account from being emptied.
